To provide a relevant and professional canine search and rescue capability to the people of South Australia, Australia and the International Community.

Through the development and deployment of operational canine search teams that meet the highest possible standards of training and certification.
To our user agencies:
Through the provision of a capability that at all times strives to uphold the principles of best practice and compliance with defined user agency policies and procedures.
To our membership:
Through the provision of appropriate training and to the best of our abilities ensure the provision of a safe working environment.
To our canines:
Through the use of appropriate animal husbandry practices and best practice training methods, and a commitment to never deploy canine teams into an environment that they are not adequately trained or experienced enough to handle.

What and How we do it
Canine search teams to the SA-USAR Taskforce
SARC-SA is a Recognised Non-Government Organisation (NGO) that meets the Requirements set by the SA- USAR Taskforce for participation in their Canine program which are:

- Must be an incorporated body residing within South Australia
- Are insured for:
- Accident and Disability
- Indemnity
- Have a specific organisational mission to support the needs of User agency and is compatible with and contributes towards user agency’s mission, values and doctrine, and specifically those of the South Australian USAR Task Force
- Are accountable to the SA USAR Task Force via the Canine Liaison Officer through a State USAR canine capability working group
- Harness canine community networks and interest in canine search and rescue USAR
- Development of a grass roots pool of volunteer canine search teams through the training of members of public interested in canine search and rescue.
- Provision of relevant best practice training methodologies for the development of fundamental and mission ready skill sets for canine search and rescue in support of Task Force / user agency training programs.
- Develop and maintain skill sets that are compatible with national and international industry standards and practices in canine search and rescue (i.e. International testing standards for rescue dogs).
- Development of national and international partnerships and networking.
- Identification of ‘viable’ canine and handler teams capable of becoming mission ready and supporting their operational development within user agency training programs.
